Nathan Crockett and his family own businesses in these categories: Hospitality, Retail, Investing, Aerospace, Pets, Media, Sports, and Real Estate.
It’s true that if “you aim at nothing . . . you’ll hit it every time.” We decided to craft a Crockett family mission statement very early in our marriage. As we make decisions for our family, we try to process them through the grid of our Crockett Family Mission to see if they’re strategic or not. To use a sports analogy— we want as many of our shots as possible to be on goal. We want to aim at the right target. During the “Crockett family meeting” times with our children, we want to evaluate our schedules, priorities, and activities to see if they’re missional. Effective families often say “no” to more things than they say “yes” to. Our family mission statement helps us determine what opportunities to avoid as well as those to pursue. If successful businesses and non-profits need clear and compelling mission statements, shouldn’t families desire the same?

Also born in 1980, Abigail grew up in Greenville, South Carolina, with two younger sisters. Like Nathan, Abigail grew up in a Pastor’s home, and her parents (Mark and Linda Minnick) were likewise remarkable role models. Abigail studied music in her undergrad and graduate degrees (double masters in piano and flute). She has done further seminary training, and enjoys speaking for women’s retreats and Bible studies. Abigail is a fun-loving mom whose smile is contagious. She is constantly thinking of ways to make the world a better place, and she has learned patience being married to a serial entrepreneur.

Genesis Crockett is a sweetheart. She learned to talk very early, and as a seven-year-old often has the rest of the family rolling with laughter. She loves her morning walks with Daddy, and her three older brothers are great protectors for her, while LilyAnne loves drawing her cartoon pictures. Genesis is sugar and spice. She loves dressing girly, and looks like a little doll, but she’s also tough as nails. Being the youngest of five, she’s learned to hold her own with the other kids and is often spotted standing next to Avi who is holding a lizard and encouraging her to pet it.
God has graciously allowed us to start and also acquire businesses across several industries.
We have three primary entries in the hospitality space: Elijah’s Harbor (200 acre retreat center in TN), the Venue at Locust Hill, and Hidden Creek Horse Farm.
Our retail businesses include tarps.com, Dapper Dog, Whisper Wick Candles, Castle Crates, Animal Artworks, Urban Yap Dog Groomers, and the Shepherd Mark clothing line.
In addition to real estate, we’ve invested as angel investors in multiple businesses across an array of sectors.
We assimilated several of our aerospace competitors after buying them out, but our current primary aerospace businesses are: American Connector Supply, MS Electronix, and Southern Cal Connectors.
Our pet businesses include Crockett Doodles, Crockett Pups, Pet Bengals, Love Pups, Dapper Dog, Castle Crates, Urban Yap, Rehome Rover, Pomsky Pups, and Frenchton Pups.
Our current media holdings are primarily high-traffic websites where we earn passive income from Google Adsense. We also hold several royalties for passive income.
